• State Police said they observed a vehicle traveling 60 mph in a 45-mph zone on Transit Road in the Town of Lockport. The vehicle was stopped in a business parking lot and the driver, Duane Taylor, 33, of Lockport, was given field sobriety tests. Taylor was charged with driving while intoxicated and speeding.

N.C. ramping up drunken driving checkpoints North Carolina is stepping up efforts to keep drunken drivers off the state's roadways. Easley says officers will ramp up patrols and checkpoints through Jan. 4 for the Booze It & Lose It campaign.
